PROM NIGHT PROMISES DANCING, DRINKS, AND FASHION TO SUPPORT THE ARTS
FEBRUARY 14, 2015Chicago Art Department1932 S. Halsted. Chicago, IL7pm-11pm21+
Autotelic Studios, Sixty Inches From Center, and The Perch are offering Chicagoans another shot at the high school dance–and this time, the chaperones will be more forgiving, the fashion more sophisticated, and all of the booze will be legal.
It’s all set to happen at Chicago Art Department in Pilsen–a massive space that will be transformed into a romantic high school gymnasium for the glamorous proceedings. Get ready for streamers, balloons, and a professional photographer to immortalize the moment with a precious photograph to send home to mum. Everyone in attendance is encouraged to dress to the nines, as chaperones will be nominating the most fashionable guests for Prom Court honors.
Prom Night is the product of collaborations with some familiar Chicago artists and advocates, including Esther Grimm of 3Arts, Britt Julious of Chicago Tribune, designer/artist Tyler Deal of Idiot Pull, Alexis Nido-Russo of Local Eclectic, and artists Victoria Martinez, Alexandra Noe, Edyta Stepien, Max Schif, Sadie Woods, Cecil McDonald Jr., and Sarah & Joseph Belknap + more.
DJ Bored Enthusiast will be spinning favorite prom tunes past and present to spark that nostalgic flame. Belly up to the bar for snacks by Whole Foods and Bang! Bang! Pie, and cool down with a beer by local brew masters at Ale Syndicate, Arcade Brewery, Revolution or Lagunitas, or a special punch cocktail mixed up by us! Prom’s got everything you need to fuel an evening of feverish dancing and uninhibited teen whimsy. Whether you’re looking for a romantic couple’s night out or planning on going stag, those who order tickets in advance can commission a corsage or boutonniere to wear at Prom and keep forever. And ever. And ever…
It’s all to raise money to support the three organizations in their mission to elevate the arts in Chicago. In turn, they will use their own resources to support one artist with a multi-faceted arts prize, including an exhibition opportunity, editorial coverage, and a sponsored project with learning opportunities.
This event is generously sponsored by Pierre Ferrand, Ale Syndicate, Lagunitas Brewing, Bang! Bang! Pie & Biscuits, Arcade Brewery, Revolution Brewing and Genesis Art Supply. Reserve your tickets at PromNight-PromRight.eventbrite.com and nominate a Chicago artist for the Prom Prize. Group rates are available. Sorry kids, Prom is 21+
